Glasgow - Book Box Set

from £40.00

Over a year in the making, these four books make up my portrait of the city, containing twelve months of street photography and almost 300 photos of Glasgow flourishing, presented in a sleek personalised box.

Each book has its own identity and colour, with the people and places shifting with the seasons. But as a box set, all four tie together into one big story of the enduring city, with recurring ideas, images, and easter-eggs.

I walked to every corner of Greater Glasgow, with photos spiralling out from the city centre to the suburbs, satellite towns, and beyond.

All four instalments were shot on the same half-frame 35mm camera. This means every frame of the film holds two images, allowing me to combine two moments together; each spread of the book becoming a diptych of these passing happenings. They're grainy, soft, and filled with that ethereal magic you can only get with colour film. Warm fuzzy photos of this warm fuzzy city.

You can see more of each book and the photos they contain here;

Summer, Spring, Winter, Autumn

Praise from owners of the books;

“It feels more than just a collection of beautiful photos - each one feels like a memory. Like digging through your grannies photo albums and being transported back in time.”

"I love Glasgow, in all her glory, with all her flaws; and Alasdair has captured her soul in print".

"I’m so thankful for you deciding to share your hometown’s beauty with the world. You clearly have a beautiful vision and it shows in your work. Please know that they will be in our household and shared with our future children as a glimpse of this stunningly vast and wild world."
